No, the lettering stays for the life on the keyboard. We use these regularly and have never had any issues

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had the k800 and k740 for years never had any letters wear off. I've had a key pop off on my last k740 which is why I had to buy another one but that was after a lot of years of daily use. I attached some pics of a k800 that is probably around 5 years old.
