• I don't use a mousepad because I don't have one at this time. But, I use it on my wood desk and it works just fine without any problems, or scratches!

• I use the mouse on a hard surface, on paper, on a tablet, on the sofa. It seems to work equally well on any surface.

• I use it on the table, pad of paper, etc....does not need to be on a mouse pad.
