Carol, Yes, it has no problem recognizing the mouse. I also purchased for my iMac, so I am positive it works. It's a great upgrade over the apple mouse. So far I have not encountered any problems.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the M570 Trackball Mouse installed on an HP desktop computer. The USB port it is connected to is on the back of the tower chassis. I do not have any problem with the operation of the trackball mouse. It seems to have a reasonable working range. I expect it would work just fine on your iMac.
