One AA battery. Rechargeable? Not sure what you mean--it doesn't recharge in the trackball. Don't know lifetime--but there is a lo-battery indicator light on unit. I was told to turn trackball off when not using it to extend battery life.

Please try again later.It's a replace as needed battery but you can always get a rechargeable battery that will work, as for run time my best guess is 2 or 3 weeks with average daily use of not longer I don't use mine all the time so I've never replaced it and I've had it close to 2 months with out a hiccup...
