If you have a USB-A port on your Dell laptop, it's essentially plug and play (very easy) by using the included USB dongle. If you want to connect using Bluetooth, make sure your Dell laptop has Bluetooth built in and just follow the included instructions. I generally prefer a smaller mouse over a larger one, and I like the size of this M590 very much.
