“Can this keyboard and mouse be used on more than one device without having to unplug the usb receiver and plug it into the other machine? If not, do you have any other models that can, I’m particularly interested in backlit keyboards”

Hello the MX900 as a combo will require the USB dongle to be plugged in and connected to your device. It is possible to pair the combo to a secondary USB dongle which will not interfere with the first USB dongle, if they are out of range of each other at more than 33ft.
