“I am only looking for speakers to attach to my monitor- I have my macbook plugged into the monitor and would prefer to not have anything else coming in and out of the laptop. Is this product able to connect to the monitor?”

If the monitors have speakers and they produce sound normally, and if the monitor has a speaker OUT jack (typically green, but not always), you should be able to do what you're describing. Without having all the details (or seeing the layout), I can't say with 100% confidence that it'll do what you're asking.
