It can be. However. Depending on how old your computer is, there is a small chance the required USB drivers might not work. But, regardless, the speakers still support connection via a standard 3.5 stereo audio plug (it does come with a cable!). Even 80s Walkmans should still work this way. I would say old computers started supporting 3.5 audio connectivity even before USB. I think you'll be fine.
