The distance is determined by the length of the cable. It's recommended to not splice the cable but I would try it if needed. A regular monitor should work. I bought a 19" TV for a monitor 8 years ago and still use it today with my second system. My old cameras work with the new DVR too.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.For DVR systems longest cable run is 1000 feet. However, the camera has to be powered at the camera head. For 300 feet and less, there is no degradation of the video quality; however, it has to be a single run cable. No splicing. A regular monitor can be used.
