I just want to point out that, the other people who answered this are incorrect. You currently can not order a 16GB M1 Mac mini from Best Buy. My guess is, Apple did not allocate enough 16GB SoC chips to retail stores for when they first released. probably why if you try buying it anywhere else, it is a custom order through Apple. My hopes are, we will start seeing them at Best Buy and other Retailers once they have enough chips made. I think Apple counted on more 8GB models selling. You can see that by trying to order from Apple themselves. You will have to wait much longer for a 16GB model compared to the 8GB model. This is accurate as of January 4th, 2020.
