On the MacBook Air M1 2020 base model the CPU is 8 core and the GPU is 7 core. It's fruitless to compare the number of cores on the Silicon chips with cores on other chips like Intel because the Silicon chips are much more efficient. On top of that Apple is not publishing any speed ratings yet for any of the Silicon chips. But rest assured the Silicon chips are revolutionary.
