It is so strange that they do not offer this. People want 16 gb of ram before they need more SSD.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but only (at least for now) through Apple.com you have to do the upgrade configuring it, the stock models for retailers just have the default 8GB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I agree the 16 GB model should be available also, but this laptop actually performs excellently with 8 GB. It's not the same kind of RAM as in traditional computers. It's called unified memory and is integrated tightly with the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine, so it doesn't take as much memory to perform the same tasks as previous computers required. From Apple's web site, it states that it's a superfast unified memory. "This single pool of high‑bandwidth, low‑latency memory allows apps to share data between the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine efficiently — so everything you do is fast and fluid." You might gain some advantage with 16 GB if you're outputting a lot of high bandwidth 4K video, but most tasks, even with several programs running such as a graphic editor, video editor, Xcode and several others, plus 20 or more tabs open in a web browser all at the same time, it still flies. This video is a good demonstration of comparing the 8gb and 16gb models: https://www.lifewire.com/how-8gb-ram-overperforms-in-m1-macs-5091929
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They have it in stores but not online. You have to go in person and get it at a Best Buy Store.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I see that B &H Photo offers an option to buy 16gb of ram in their offered M1 Mac Book Pro models. It seems like Best Buy should be able to do the same. But as of March 2021, it looks like they still aren't offering an option to buy the 16gb of ram.
