YES if the Magic Jack is plugged ONLY into a computer. If you plug it into a modem or router NO your computer does not need to be turned on 24/7.

Today in 2025, just modem/router are required. You will need to plug the MJ into the computer for activation, but after that, no computer is required for it to continue to work 24/7. Connect the MagicJack to any free home network port on the modem/router and MJ will work with just the modem/router turned on.
