This AVR can power any kind of speaker, and it's powerful enough to run a whole surround sound setup. I recommend using a external amplifier for large LCR speakers.

Nearly any passive (non-powered) speaker on the market. Personally, I use KEF speakers with Marantz receivers for what I feel is a perfect combination for the money.
