• The companies don't need to do price drops on digital versions. Physical copies need to complete with used copies.

• It was probably on special during the holidays. Digital games remain the same price .

• Usually because of sales to purchase the physical game

• Because physical copies are worth more than digital because you can resell it.

• Because it’s on sale. Digital games are on sale far less often. They are both the actual game. You will get $3 or so in digital points though if you have a Nintendo rewards account.
