If you are plugging your laptop HDMI to a monitor then it will potentially sharpen the image slightly. This is not going to increase the VRAM of your laptop though. This is more like artificial antialiasing. When used with a PS4, PS5, or Xbox Consoles your not going to really see a difference. The console that you see this sharpen and smooth out edges really is for a Nintendo Switch. If you are needing more VRAM then you would be needing to get a more powerful gaming specific laptop or bite the bullet and get a gaming PC.
