• Hello Chaz, thanks for your question. The Acton II Bluetooth speaker can be connected to your device without the Marshall Bluetooth app; in fact, you will always need to manually connect the speaker to your phone or device directly to be able to stream to the speaker. The app will provide some additional features such as remote control, an equalizer and firmware updates. If you don't use the app, we recommend connecting the speaker to the app regularly to check for any available updates.
