Q: QuestionI already have the Emberton II. Does the Emberton III sound significantly better than the Emberton II or should I just upgrade to the Middleton. I want a bit more bass but want the footprint to be desk size. Thanks

• A:Answer Hi Dennis, Thanks for your interest in the Marshall Speakers. The Emberton II that you know and love has an SPL rating of 87 dB SPL @ 1 m; the Emberton III has an SPL rating of 90 dB SPL @ 1 m; and the Middleton an SPL rating of 87 dB SPL @ 1 m. The Middleton will have more bass, but the Emberton III a smaller footprint. We recommend checking out both speakers and returning the one you decide isn't for you.

• A:Answer Hi Bob, thank you for your question. Marshall uses the SPL rating to measure the loudness or power of a speaker. SPL (Sound Pressure Level) measures a speaker's loudness in decibels (\(dB\)), while wattage measures the power a speaker can handle without damage. A higher SPL rating indicates a louder speaker, but wattage alone doesn't determine loudness; a speaker with a higher wattage rating can handle more power without distorting or breaking. For comparing speaker loudness, SPL is the more accurate metric, as a small increase in SPL requires a significant increase in wattage.  The Emberton III has an SPL rating of 90 dB SPL at 1 meter.

• A:Answer Hi Kish ~ I did some research as I also own this speaker and yes you can pair a Marshall Emberton III speaker with two phones simultaneously, allowing you to play audio from both devices at the same time thanks to its multi-point connectivity feature; simply connect both phones to the speaker via Bluetooth and switch between them as needed.

• A:Answer No, this speaker only supports audio via a Bluetooth connection. There is no wired audio input or output with Emberton III. If you need a portable speaker with wired audio input, check out Middleton, Middleton II, Kilburn III, or Stockwell II, which all have a 3.5mm auxiliary audio input.
