“Can I plug this into the wall and leave it plugged in? Or does it have to run after a charge unplugged? I’m looking for a Bluetooth speaker that is always on and ready. And I don’t have to wait to charge it when I want to use it.”

It has to be plugged in all the time so I would say it's always on the ready IF it would stay connected. I regret buying this speaker. Unless you want to have the AUX cord plugged in all the time, don't expect the wifi or bluetooth connection to work consistently. It disconnects CONSTANTLY and my internet modem/router is dirctly beside it. Marshall customer service is not helpful.
