• You can use either one. The post can be pushed in to accept a bare wire from the side which isnt apparent from pictures.

• You can use either / or.. the terminals are spring loaded and can take direct wire or Banana Clips in the rear.

• Yes you can do just wire or the banana plugs. Banana plugs are so much nicer and easier.
