Origin (EA Desktop App)
Sorry, there was a problem. Mass Effect and its sequels/spinoff were available only on Origin for a very long time, and they only recently arrived on Steam in the last year or so. The trilogy has also been piecemealed with its DLC in separate packages. Unfortunately, EA is known for this practice all to well. An example of this would be the Sims franchise that the company also owns the rights to. It kind of makes some sense making the games exclusive to their own launcher, so they can push their own content in a more controlled and costly manner as well as to promote themselves. That is why my best guess is Origin, but there is a small chance that the compilation/port will also be on Steam. By releasing the game on multiple different platforms, they get more attention and potential sales. However beware of the compilation, even if it releases on Steam, the games might not have full controller support or any at all because that integral feature was missing from all entries of the trilogy in previous versions for the PC. Some people have tried getting around it with mods and specialized novelty gaming controllers like the currently discontinued Steam Controller. I mention this because there seems to be little about how this version has been upgraded or enhanced in any way other than containing all or most of the parts that were previously piecemealed.

No differences in story and the Pinnacle Station DLC for ME1 is absent though.

It seems to only be "traditional" retailers which are offering pre orders. EA have started selling their games on Steam again, after having stopped doing so for several years. For this reason, I'm going to guess that Mass Effect Legendary will release on Steam as well as Origin, but could be wrong. Regardless of all of this, there is really zero point in pre ordering the game at this time. Especially for a remaster, I would recommend waiting until it comes out or at least until some pre release reviews have come out, as who knows if it will actually be worth the money. This is particularly true if you've already played the games in the past. Somewhat unrelated, but my understanding is that all DLC for the trilogy will be included as part of the package.
