The right earphone is the master, if you choose to wear only one earphone it must be the right side. The volume however is excellent, if you use these on an iOS device you are limited to your devices volume, if you use these on an Android device you can adjust the volume by the phones volume and if the phone volume is maxed out you can give it more volume by using the volume buttons on the headphones.
