“We have a well and with our Frigidaire had to get a "dummy" filter so we could use the dispenser. Otherwise we were going through a filter every week. We drink it from the tap without problem for 29 years so need the refrigerator to allow that as well”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does require a filter we run on well water also but really depends on how well you filter the water before it hit your fridge. I have sediment filter also a water softener. refrigerator has been in for 2 months now and filter is fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The fridge comes with a dummy filter plug installed, along with a factory filter to install. You could see how long the factory filter lasted, and if it doesn't last long enough, you could just re-install the dummy filter plug.
