That was a good question. There is a green light on the front of the door that illuminates during the wash cycle. It goes out at the end of the cycle and the LCD on top edge of the door displays the word clean, until the door is opened and closed for the first time after the cycle.

There's a small green light on the front (upper right) when it's running. When it's not running it's not lit.

HI Autumn! The MDB8959SFZ does have a small LED light on the upper right side of the door. Here is what the Use and Care manual has on it. "On models with top controls, an indicator light on the front of the door panel will glow green when a cycle is running and turns off when the cycle is complete."
