The sound level wasn’t why I bought this dishwasher, because I usually run it at night. The drying rating was higher than a few others, because nothing is worse than having to hand dry after cycle. The added perk of this product is that it is so quiet we tend to run at any time. So yes that would contribute to my rating at least.

I was actually hoping they would but it seems to be a AI answer as I was comparing & asked about two specific models & not a broad range of dishwashers. The answer is a basic response to dishwashers in general. I hope a human @ Maytag actually sees this so if nothing else they can improve their answers.

This occurs when water is pumped into and then cycled through the dishwasher before being pumped out again. Several dishwasher manufacturers have been able to successfully minimize the noise caused by water movement by innovating a number of factors, including wash cycles, the speed and force used to spray water, and by creating pump systems that produce less noise. The quality of materials used in the construction of a dishwasher can play a role in the noise a dishwasher will produce. Additionally, the thickness of the insulation will affect the decibel rating.
