“When the washer is in the wash cycle and I press the pause button, with the lid down the whole while, how long will it stay in the pause mode. I want to start the wash, pause for 1/2 hour to soak, and then continue on with the wash.”

Not sure how long it will stay on pause with lid down. If lid is up it drains after 10 minutes. The washer has a presoak cycle you can use prior to actually washing it.
