“I bought a detergent that says it can be used in regular and HE washers. It doesn’t specify to use less in the HE washer. I just got my HE washer and I want to make sure I’m not using too much detergent. How much am I supposed to be using?”

I looked up online concerning how much detergent to use in a HE washer, but I felt confused and unsure of how much detergent I should use. I use All Free Clear Liquid as my laundry detergent. The front of the container shows that it is OK to use in HE washers, but the recommended amounts to use on the back of the container is the same for all types of washers. I wondered how that could be since HE washers require less laundry detergent. But I did follow the recommendations, and I mostly pour to level 2 as recommended for medium loads. I haven't used much more than that even though some loads are more than medium. The level 2 amount seems to be enough without being too much. I do use the deep water wash setting which adds a little more water in the tub. The clothes come out clean & smell good. There is no residue left on the clothes. The soapy water in the tub looks to be just right to me and doesn't look too foamy.
