• It's pretty straight forward. The lid only locks during rinse and spin cycles. If you want to open it at that time, press the start/pause button and it will interrupt the cycle. When closing the lid back, press start again.

• Shelly, when the washer cycle is complete and the lid unlocks, you can lift the lid up.
