Mine does not get condensation on the control panel. So I would say, no. Depending on how hot the water is, I guess it could be possible. It hasn't happened with mine though. It sounds like your lid might have a gap somewhere along the back (maybe there's a gasket back there), allowing steam to be released onto your control panel.
