• Hello! The height with the door open would be 58 1/2 inches. However, if you would like to hold the lid open you may, but the lid will not stay partially open. We apologize.

• Not knowing the height or width of your shelf you can use the following information. With the top lid completely open measuring to the floor is 59 1/4 inches. So, your shelf would have to be higher. Note: My wife loves her Maytag

• Yes, except that it is a rather large lid and only stays propped open on its own once it reaches the fully open position. You could continuously lift the lid as you load the clothes, but it would be more inconvenient, for sure.
