“The dryer is supposed to be connected to the cold water side via a Y connection. Is it okay to connect it to the hot water water side? We already have a Y connection on the cold water for aquarium water so need to put the dryer on the hot side.”

I don't think so, but it's best to have Maytag or Best Buy answer this for you. I would think having the cold connection would be best for the steam feature.
