“Will this work so I can’t watch tv and movies with my family? I would use my Bose earbuds so I don’t keep asking what someone said and they can have the sound down and watch without earbuds or headphones?”

Yes, I have mine hooked up using Optical Audio Cable to the back of my TV, but you also get sound the regular TV.
