I have Spectrum Cable. If I run an Optical cable from the cable box output to the Transmitter, will it cut out the sound on the TV. I am running HDMI from the cable to the TV now and assume that it should allow sound to both TV and Earphones. null

My tv has optical. I ran my transmitter from there. Kept tv audio on auto, will play thru both unless i turn the tv volume down.

You are correct, using the optical connection generally allows you to route sound output to the transmitter (and to your headphones) without cutting the sound off from your TV.
