Can you use 8 gauge wire in/out ? Would that work ? null

Yes, technically you can HOWEVER you would more than likely draw more current than a 8ga wire could handle and that's why they say 4ga in 8ga out. Think about it, you have 2 8ga on the output each pulling there own current from the same input wire.
