The short answer is yes. The antenna needs its wire plugged into the back of the radio. My suggestion is replace the old power antenna with a new power antenna. I once worked at an aftermarket car stereo shop, and we would either replace the entire power antenna unit, or we would replace the broken mast with a new one. You should check with the Bestbuy Geek Squad for further options.
