The Best Buy installer said the lights will stay on if it’s wired for the camera button on the head unit but it can also be wired so the lights only come on in reverse (in which case the camera button will not work).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I hooked up power behind the dash (switch 12v) to a toggle switch, then connect 12v output of the switch to the purpil/wht wire on the HU. My Sony Nav. radio when in reverse will display no video signal, but then flip toggle switch and camera comes on. Note: Did not connect to reverse wire at the back, not even ground since it is grounded up front behind dash. This hookup method allows me to turn on the camera anytime. If camera is fed power full time it will shorten the life of your camera by alot.
