“I can't find a reference to how you receive the picture. No monitor is shown so I assume it connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Am I correct? If I have an older smartphone no longer on a network, with this still work via Bluetooth?”

I am in the process of getting mine installed at bestbuy. The camera will be connected to a pioneer stereo receiver I purchased that has the camera option I do not think this can transmit to a phone. I would suggest calling the Best Buy car audio in your area to confirm.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe this needs a wired connection to a monitor. You can buy a monitor to mount on your dash. I added this camera along with a new radio and speakers in my old car. The new radio has bluetooth and a touchscreen monitor. Installation of the backup camera cost more than the radio or speakers which tells me that it is not easy, unless you don't mind wires showing. I ended up buying a one-year subscription to Best Buy's Geek Squad for about $200 to pay for installation of the radio, speakers, and backup camera.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.its just the wired camera, no screen. the wire plugs into some sort of screen that would already be in the car (like an aftermarket stereo that supports the camera). if you need a screen buy a different camera that comes with a screen.

While it gets the job done I probably would have made a different decision if I knew how the display would look. It also has an LED light that sits above the license plates which makes it to light in my opinion. So far I haven't been able to find a setting to change it I don't believe it has a the capability to work with a smartphone.
