You get a warning that it is about to run out. Then another warning and after two week you can not access anything

If you do not remove it then you should lose that functionality of that program. Sort of the same with iTunes Music. If you do not renew timely they send messages giving you a reminder before they stop that service.

When you purchase it, you have the option to automatically have it renew and charge the amount to your credit card on file so you do not have any down time. Or if you prefer not to do that, you can renew it on line or go back to the store and purchase another one.
