“After 1st year, will I lose internet connection or will I still be able to continue using outlook and other Office apps that require the internet? I realize this is a one-time purchase; want to be sure it will still work with my internet connection.”

Until recently I was using Office 2016 (one time purchase) on a Mac and never had a problem using the products purchased one time or updating the software. I believe you will be able to use it until Microsoft stops supporting it or when your OS no longer supports it (which is what generally happens with a Mac).
