Due to the USB plug in adapter being connected to both the keyboard and mouse. You have to buy a new combination as Microsoft does not sell a replacement mouse, which would connect with your USB plug connector. So I am sad to say you will need to buy a new device. Wait for them to go on sale and then buy several, which is what I did.
