- Answer Bummer about that. Its a Microsoft design flaw. Broken dongle means your outfit is now worthless and you buy an entire new set up or switch to a logitech keyboard which sells replacement parts. The dongles are not programmable or interchangeable. They only work with the original hardware. Its a great keyboard but one miniscule part which breaks quite easily turns it into trash. Life's too short to try microsoft support. The end result is this answer anyway. I went that route.

- Answer NO, I just had this same issue and contacted microsoft. Their response was that I should repurchase the whole thing. They're encrypted so you can only use the one that came with the device. So, according to them, it's now junk.

- Answer Yes, it will work generally with a mac. However some of the keys are recognized differently than how they are labeled. My mac air recognized the keyboard, but not 100%. It was still extremely usable, just not perfect.

QuestionHow do I turn this keyboard off? Also, where is the blue tooth button on the keyboard. I just changed the batteries, but when I key in, the letters often do not appear on the screen. Is it a faulty keyboard? It is only a few months old.

- Answer There's no on off button, the only way is to remove battery. Im going on my second keyboard the previous ones were faulty. The bluetooth is the USB that cones with keyboard, very fragile to handle. The keys have a issue that they stick continuously, I love the design and the flexibility of number pad but Microsoft needs to improve quality. I will add that it would be great for keyboard to light up.

- Answer Due to the USB plug in adapter being connected to both the keyboard and mouse. You have to buy a new combination as Microsoft does not sell a replacement mouse, which would connect with your USB plug connector. So I am sad to say you will need to buy a new device. Wait for them to go on sale and then buy several, which is what I did.

QuestionFor long time users of this keyboard: Do you have any keys which have letters rubbing off/fading? I have that issue on other MS keyboards (Sculpt, 4000, etc.). I'd rather not buy new keyboards every year (I use them for both business and home via a KVM)

- Answer Bought my 2nd one for my home office recently. The one I use at work I have used for 2+ years with no letters fading from any buttons.

- Answer Yes the keyboard can be used separately. Just turn off the mouse. If the keyboard is not responding you may need to replace the battery in the keyboard.

- Answer I would get a can of air and blow around the key it may have something stuck under it . This keyboard is delicate to food particles. If that does not work out could be a faulty keyboard.

- Answer The "little keyboard" is just the number pad. It turns on and off by itself. As soon as it is plugged into the computer they are BOTH on. There is no need to "switch" from one to the other, as it is just an extension.
