You can't. If you are not using it it will draw almost no power from the battery.

The power on the keyboard and number pad are activated by pressing the keys, so as long as you are not pressing on them or nothing is sitting on top of them to press the keys, they do not use power.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There is a power on/off button on your mouse. You can disconnect the USB connector and turn that button to the "off" position. However, I leave this on all the time and only need to replace batteries every 6-9 months - for the mouse. For the keyboard, my batteries have lasted for a solid year or so. The numeric keypad, for some reason, is the battery you will have to replace most often. (I just keep a few extras on me at all times.)
