Yes, Surface does have an on-screen keypad and on-screen numeric pad, which allows you to type on the screen. Both can used with Microsoft Office, which includes Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Yes, and the onscreen keypad works well. Although with the USB input my wife usually plugs in a standard keyboard when writing papers in Word.
