- Answer Yes, you can. The user interface "skin" looks a little different, but everything's in basically the same place and behaves the same. At purchase, you'll have the "Preview" edition of Microsoft Office Home and Student (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), then after you do Windows Update, you will automatically be upgraded to the full version of Office absolutely free. If you want document creation capability in a tablet, this is the way to go over Android, and most certainly iPad. I am VERY satisfied with the Office experience on my Surface tablet.

- Answer There are a few big differences. Surface has a USB port for flash drives, external hard drives, mice, and keyboards. iPad does not. You can also enjoy Office-document compatibility immediately without purchasing add-on software. Surface allows almost all the same fun the iPad does, but also packs a punch for utilities. If you like Windows 8 on a non-touchscreen device, you will love the Surface!

- Answer The Surface RT includes a pre-installed version of Adobe Flash Player. This functionality is also included in Internet Explorer 10, so no additional app or download is necessary.

- Answer The Surface cannot connect to every printer out there, as some of the older drivers are not compatible with the RT software. I, personally, can print to my HP wireless printer. When I set up the Surface RT, it automatically loaded the HP printer app. I hope this helps you out.

QuestionIs this tablet good for college students?Im looking to get a tablet for college to take to class and take notes but also to do work on bus rides to basketball games. I was debating between this and the iPad, but i know i need Microsoft Word. Also how easy is it to download music to this tablet?

- Answer Downloading music should be easy enough. I went ahead and got the XBox Music Pass and it is excellent. I'm moving into my Junior year of college and decided to buy this for school. My old laptop was thick and filled up my small bag quickly. This new tablet leaves lots of space for textbooks. The device is real sturdy and durable so I'm not afraid of throwing it in with all my heavy books in the slightest. As you pointed out it does have Word and such. That was a deciding factor for me. Although other tablets have word processors, they're not Word. I see time and time again students using non-standard software and running into huge issues which either embarrass them in class or cause their assignments to be turned in late. If you get it though, make sure you get the keyboard as well! It adds so much functionality you'll forget you're on a tablet. Seriously. The tablet's a steal at $350. Go for it, and best of luck at school.

- Answer Yes. The Surface RT has a capacitive touch screen, just like the iPad. You can't use Surface Pro's Pen because it is not a capacitive stylus. It is a digital pen. Only the Surface Pro has the digitizer layer on the screen. You can go buy a capacitive stylus/pen at Best Buy, but it won't have an eraser and palm-blocking technology. Hope this helps. :-)

- Answer Yes it does, but it costs extra. I would highly recommend getting it. I like to use the keyboard rather than touch the screen.

QuestionCan I play games, videos, songs, and type word docs from my Flash Drive?Do I need to get the Windows Pro or can I use the Surface RT to play games off my flash drive? Also does this have Microsoft Office Home and Student to stay or do I eventually have to buy Microsoft Office? And Can any kind of headphones work with the RT? Can I play MP4 videos and MP3 Songs from my Flash Drive on the RT? Does the RT have Windows Media Player that I could use? I would prefer to get something I could really do things on but not pay so much money.

- Answer This tablet has the microSD card slot. Transfer files to and from Surface using the full-size USB port. Watch movies, show photos, or present your work on the big screen through the video out port. I never play game but I think it is better playing game on desktop or laptop.

- Answer Yes, you absolutely can. You can purchase a VGA adapter OR an HDMI adapter from Microsoft as well as other manufacturers like Belkin that will allow you to use your larger screen with the touch interface to annotate your slides as you go. As far as saving them as PDFs, you may want to find an app for that, but shouldn't be too hard. I would NOT recommend a Galaxy for classroom use, as your Microsoft Office experience won't be nearly as seamless as it will be with Surface. You can get all the fun capabilities of an Android tablet (YouTube, Netflix, Google Search, media library app, etc.) with the Surface, along with much more robust document creation capability. The Surface is IDEAL for a classroom.

- Answer RT is a version of Windows 8 designed for Windows based tablets like the Microsoft Surface, or the Asus Transformer. The other tablets use Android operating systems, or Apple iOS. The main difference is that tablets that use Windows RT have access to many of the programs that run on Windows 8.

- Answer You can save a Word doc at a PDF in Word 2013 (which the RT comes with). As for converting that to a JPEG, MS Word does not appear to do this, but it has any options of file formats to save to, many of which are Web-friendly (see picture of "Save As" file types). There is always the option of doing a screen capture, which converts to a JPEG. You do this by holding down the Windows Icon Button then pushing the down volume button (while still holding down the Windows Button). Hope this helps

QuestionAm I able to run Google Chrome as the primary web-browser instead of IE, NOT as an app?What I mean is: on my PC I'm able to run Chrome as the primary web-browser in place of IE. Neither run on apps. I just downloaded Chrome from its individual website. Will I be able to do the same on the Surface?

- Answer Tegra 1.3 ghz quad core processor. Since you have Microsoft hardware and software, they've tuned everything so that this thing just flies!! It's lightning fast and fluid.

- Answer Yes! But... you will need a USB to Ethernet adapter. The Surface RT (in and Pro, for that matter) do not have ethernet ports... they are WiFi only, out of the box. You can get a cheap USB to Eternet adapter for under $30 most anywhere. For the RT, make sure you get one that will work with it specifically... you cannot install drivers easily, but there are certain ones that will work out of the box.
