RT is a version of Windows 8 designed for Windows based tablets like the Microsoft Surface, or the Asus Transformer. The other tablets use Android operating systems, or Apple iOS. The main difference is that tablets that use Windows RT have access to many of the programs that run on Windows 8.

It still has the core features of Windows 8, live tiles and the desktop, but the Surface RT includes the Windows Office Suite where as the Surface Pro does not.

In addition to what has already been shared, I would like to point out, that Windows RT and Windows 8 share similarities but are different as the two versions of Windows run on different Operating Systems. I recommend checking out the "Which Surface is right for you?" page for more details on the difference in the two. www.microsoft.com/surface/which-surface-is-right-for-you I hope this is helpful to you. Kindest Regards
