Can you still type on the keyboard if it is detached? null

No. It's not a Bluetooth keyboard, although you could hook one up. I have the original surface book. There would be no point really. the screen wouldn't stand up on it's own without the keyboard. In Tablet mode it does have a virtual, on-screen keyboard, but it's not really great for typing. But the hardware keyboard is AWESOME with a very, very good touch pad. That keyboard is the main reason I'm going to purchase a Book 3.

No. This is not connected wirelessly and would need to be attached in order to use it.
