Windows 10 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively using Microsoft Store apps. If you want to download apps not available in the Microsoft Store, you’ll need to switch of S mode, which is permanent.

I have not run into any issues using any standard programs (Microsoft suite, etc.). As for security I do have additional security software installed so that may have prevented issues but when sweeps are done daily I have not had anything come up. All in all I would say working outside of S mode would not reduce the useful of the device. A great laptop!
