A:Answer "Fast" being a very subjective term and relative to the tasks you need to perform, my best answer is this machine (4GB RAM version) is plenty fast enough for basic Internet browsing, email and photos, and it seems to open small Word and Excel docs without too much delay. I'm sure it spends more time waiting for my Mom than she does for it.
I would not use it for heavy document/photo processing or gaming, but that's not why I chose it. My Mom is elderly and not very strong, so she needed a small, light laptop with a decent display and keyboard to use while sitting in her recliner. This is perfect for her to read email, shop, watch Great Courses classes and things of that nature.
It also does not get extremely hot while in use. Most of the other ones in the store were quite warm and they were just sitting there doing nothing while this one was barely lukewarm. That seems to be how it is in real operations as at least so far it hasn't gotten very hot even after a few hours of use.
