• Windows 8 ... so i purchased Microsoft 2013

• Microsoft surface pro 3 is designed to run the latest and up to date office. If compatibility is your issue, documents using office on a different device can be put on a flash drive and your surface pro 3 will automatically run the office program as compatiblity mode.

• Not sure, I downloaded Windows8 and it works GREAT (however it does take some getting used to). Not sure if Windows8 is 'backwards compatible' with older windows versions?
