Yes you will loose your files. you must do a clean sweep to go from Vista to Windows 10. also you must make sure that your pc is compatible with the Windows 10 install.

Also internet explorer has been replaced my Microsoft edge, and I don't think saved sites/history transfer is an option there. I would copy the sites you need to a text folder, save that to a flash drive just in case. Change and write down any passwords you don't know to be safe. After you can copy and past those sites into edge, and you'll have all your user name and passwords written down.
